In 2007, archaeologists discovered human bones in Atapuerca They had evidence to prove the existence of human beings in Atapuerca about 800.000 years ago. These people were the first inhabitants of the Iberian Peninsula.   The bones the archaeologists found in 2007 belonged to a child. He was about 11 years old when he died.
